Our Story
Sarasudha takes its name from Sarala and Sudha — two names that carry ideas of simplicity, sincerity and sweetness. Its wider story reaches back to a cultural journey that began with Annamacharya Kalabharati in Cuddapah in 1984.
The Name
Sarasudha is a name inspired by Sarala and Sudha.
Sarala
Simplicity. Sincerity. Grace.
A name associated with being natural, direct and true.
Sudha
Nectar. Sweetness. Richness.
A name that evokes something life-giving and worth savouring.
Sarasudha
Two names from one family became the name for something intended to reach far beyond it. Sarasudha brings those ideas into music — honest in expression, rich in feeling and open to generations of artists and listeners.
Where It Began
The story reaches back to Cuddapah in 1984, when Annamacharya Kalabharati was established as a cultural initiative centred on music and community.
Annamacharya Kalabharati
P. Ramachandran, the owner's father, was among its early leaders.
The Years That Followed
What began in 1984 continued through the years that followed. Family records point to community-supported cultural infrastructure, Annamacharya Jayanti and Vardhanti observances, and later efforts to protect what had been created.
Those records are now being recovered and documented more fully in the Sarasudha archive.
A Quieter Period
In later years, the public programme became quieter. The performances and gatherings may have receded, but the records, memories and cultural intent remained.
2026
Sarasudha begins from that inheritance, but it is being built for today — for the way music is performed, discovered, shared and remembered now. It brings Carnatic tradition, light music, devotional expression and contemporary interpretation into one space, while creating room for artists and audiences to find each other.
Music carries context most feeds strip away — the raga behind a composition, the story behind a performer, the tradition a piece draws from. Sarasudha is built to hold onto that depth while still reaching people where they already are.
Rooted in tradition. Open to every note.
